The Rage Rides for Aids in Africa

We love getting stupid in here, so hey, even better when it's for a cause as huge as the Aids problem in Africa. The Stephen Lewis foundation set up an amazing nationwide campaign called 'A Dare To Remember'. The concept is for people to come up with an idea then collect sponsors who 'DARE' them to execute. Jack Layton did some busking on the Danforth, KAOS went back to his old job at the toy department at The Bay.....I thought it'd be fun to put on an elephant-like get-up for a day, then charge around downtown on my board for a bit!

On Dare Day many customers learned of the campaign and some chucked in pocket change (thanks guys!) The ride was a blast (ALWAYS is), I do love confusing people! I think many were unsure as to whether they were witnessing the lamest thing of all time, or the coolest heh heh.

The goal was to raise $1000 for the foundation, as it stands at this very second we're at $719!! So much love to all the friends, family and customers who pitched in, it's been such fun!

Goddamn it's cold out........
Right around the clothing show every year we get a load of new items, by Paperpeople Clothing especially....this year the delivery includes the line's classic boat neck shrug (remade sweaters), remade men's corset vests and sale sweater dresses! We also received an obscene amount of reworked cardigans (a bargain at $45ea.!)

I love wearing my shrugs over tshirts with a tie or suspenders. Dress shirts are always hot and look great with the corset vest as well.

Of course all the new goodies demanded fresh display space, so 'a product shufflin' I went. I'm still getting used to dealing with corners...in the old space there was really only one corner, and we stuck the mini shoe shelves in there. Back to the old 'one step at a time' (heh heh); it'll get figured out. Rainy days aren't so bad, they allow us the time to freshen up the place so it's new for your next visit!

Enjoy Nuit Blanche if you're going!! xo

Rage Sweet Rage

I love it when life turns to theme; earlier this week we got a good helping of hand-sculpted dessert rings by Candace Ware (animator by trade); clever girl scented the cupcake rings with strawberry or cherry oil, dear god don't eat them!! Then yesterday
we had our first ever bake sale! The selection was amazing (provided nuts don't kill you):

-skor cookies
-choc. chip/walnut/oatmeal cookies

-macaroons
-choc. peanut butter balls w. rice krispies
-vanilla cake balls dipped in chocolate
-banana bread
-peanut butter/butterscotch marshmallow squares

It was fun having Heather out helping all day....hope everyone enjoyed the treats!!

The Rage is Tagged!!

I've been waiting for this to happen; Monday was the day of discovery. How appropriate and considerate of the artists to a)use silver and b)to tag AROUND the store name. To tell you the truth, I love it. It's perfect for the store and neighborhood; we've been initiated. I just hope any tagger that hits this wall in future has as much style as these three.....

The next day I'm walking to work and I notice fresh painting action in the alley beside Exile on Kensington Ave.....lucky us, the neighborhood talent is at it again! Apparently this Andre The Giant piece took under a couple days....how fucking heartwarming and hilarious can it get? It's so Toronto. The likeness is gooooood....

Stick to Your Guns
Our new fall collection is pretty bangin and we wanted to show it off with some flare! Ashok Guha of Broken Spoon Photography (www.ashokguha.com) came on down to photograph for us while our lovely models Laura Nokes and Mark Fernando rocked it!

The theme of our shoot was stubborness. We WON'T conform to what everyone else is doing so our shoot turned out like no other "fashion" shoot I've seen before. Our models are existing customers from the store, they did their own hair and make-up (as we all do in the real world) and they were able to have fun
and just go crazy in Kensington. We created quite a scene indeed!

We're all about self expression so let it show!

Check out some of the pics here and for more check out our facebook page (we're
Rage Store on FB in case you didn't know!)

Don't stop rockin! xo -Jane
